MYP Orientation Day: AI + Human Intelligence – Smarter Together!

On 2 September, International School Premjers held its MYP Orientation Day, “AI + Human Intelligence: Smarter Together!”

The theme focused on an increasingly important question for students: how can artificial intelligence support learning without replacing independent thinking?

Working in mixed-age teams, students rotated through five activity stations designed to explore both the opportunities and limitations of AI. They evaluated the reliability of AI-generated advice, created prompts to recreate an image, discussed academic honesty, tested predictions through chemistry experiments, and considered how AI can be used as a tutor and learning partner rather than simply as a source of ready-made answers.

The activities encouraged students to think critically about how they use digital tools, check important information, recognise limitations and take responsibility for their own work.

Orientation Day also gave students the opportunity to connect with peers from other year groups and collaborate before settling into their regular routines. At the same time, it introduced key habits of questioning, reflection, collaboration and independent learning that will support them throughout the IB Middle Years Programme.
