Student-Led Conference in the PYP

On May 29, our school was filled with excitement and pride as the PYP students, parents, and teachers gathered for the first Student-Led Conference, a signature event of the IB Primary Years Programme. The day gave our youngest learners the stage to share their learning journeys and celebrate their achievements with their families.

The conference opened with an exhibition of the children’s vibrant artwork and imaginative handicrafts, a testament to the creativity and skills they have developed over the year. Next, the audience enjoyed a lively student performance of the folk tale “The Turnip,” which filled the classroom with warm smiles and applause.
After the performance, the students guided their families through personal portfolios that showcased samples of their work from different subjects. As the students turned each page, they reflected on their strengths, challenges, goals, and growth – the evidence of thoughtful, reflective learners.

Finally, Grade 1 students proudly unveiled projects from their unit “Sharing the Planet,” demonstrating what they have learned about plants and why they are important to life on Earth.  Grade 2 students recited favourite poems they memorised during the year and – the highlight of the day – received printed copies of the storybooks they had written and illustrated previously.

Printed copies of these delightful fairy-tales are now available in the school library, and you can read the digital editions here:
Mysterious Castle by Tansar Igembaev
Toby The Brave Puppy by Roberts Aleksandrovs
The Tale of the Wood Firefly by Dmytro Zvonovskyi
The Wicked Princess by Anna Filipova
The Chocolate House by Amelija Shepele

Thank you to all the students, parents, and teachers who made this event such a meaningful and memorable celebration of learning!
