Where Buildings Tell Stories: Discovering Old Riga
As part of their Unit of Inquiry “How We Express Ourselves”, our curious second-graders set off to explore the architectural treasure of Old Riga and test the central idea of the unit: People express ideas, values and needs through the buildings they design and the materials they choose. The young inquirers had a chance to visit the Swedish Gate, Riga Castle, and the former Riga Bourse building. Along the way, they uncovered how architecture preserves history, reflects culture, and connects the past with the present.
It was a wonderful opportunity to see historic buildings full of stories written in stone.
Thank you to everyone for your participation and support!
